Stephen Wilson Jr.’s journey from the hollers of southern Indiana to Nashville has been anything but ordinary. A former Golden Gloves boxing finalist, scientist, and indie rock guitarist, he left his lab career behind in 2016 to sign with BMG Nashville—quickly earning cuts with artists like Tim McGraw, Old Dominion, and Caitlyn Smith.
His breakthrough came in 2023 with his debut double album søn of dad, a deeply personal, genre-spanning project dedicated to his late father. The record was widely acclaimed, landing “Album of the Year” honors from Holler and praise from Rolling Stone, Whiskey Riff, and more.
Since then, Wilson Jr. has made standout TV appearances (including Late Night with Seth Meyers and The Late Show with Stephen Colbert), earned a CMA nomination for New Artist of the Year, and released a deluxe version of søn of dad featuring his viral rendition of “Stand By Me.” He also collaborated with Shaboozey and continues to build momentum on the road, currently touring on his sold-out Gary The Torch tour.
